Finding a music teacher vs an academic tutor
Studios, grade exams and NCEA Music are a different market from maths and English.
FindTutor lists both classroom-style academic tutors and instrument teachers. They are not interchangeable. A brilliant calculus tutor is not automatically a singing teacher, and a piano studio may not offer NCEA English.
Music
Ask about the instrument, exam board (Trinity, AMEB, NZMEB), whether they teach theory and aural, and whether they can support NCEA Music performance standards. In-person is the default for technique.
Academic
Ask about the New Zealand Curriculum year, NCEA levels, and whether they mark writing or only talk through problems. Location still matters: a weekly after-school slot in your city is easier to keep than a heroic motorway commute.
